As we’re bracing for a storm here in the Northeast and kids are preparing for a potential snow day, I came across a calendar I picked up a few months back at a Holiday Shopping Event. The event was a benefit for an organization based in New Jersey and took place at the shop of a friend. Awaiting 2013 I’d forgotten about it – the calendar that is – under a pile of papers on my desk. And leafing though it now – months later – I found page after page of happiness. Smiles speaking the universal language of love.

M.O.R.E., the Medhen Orphan Relief Effort, is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Orphans and Vulnerable Children Program of the Medhen Social Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. (Learn more about OVC). M.O.R.E.’s support of OVC “helps children find a loving home”. Kids who just need a valentine of sorts. A heart full of hope. You can give hope to M.O.R.E. children too – here’s how.

  1. Hello…thank you so much for your kind words about M.O.R.E. It’s so nice of you to mention M.O.R.E. and to share the link to our website. I’m so happy that you are enjoying our calendar. Of course, i also have one above my desk and enjoy the picture of the month and i’m always happy to see the “new little faces” that the next month brings. As I’m sure you know, M.O.R.E. is a New Jersey non-profit supporting over 600 childfren orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. All of our board members are voluneers. There are no paid positions or salaries. All money raised goes directly to helping these beautiful children. Many of our board members have traveled to Addis to meet our wonderful director, Sister Senkenesh, and the children. Six board members (including myself and my husband Charlie) traveled there this past November. We were so happy to visit the children and to see what M.O.R.E. has accomplished because of our wonderful supporters…like YOU! Please visit us on facebook ( to our follow our events and updates. Again, thank you so much for your interest and your support. Please contact M.O.R.E. through the website or me directly, if you have any questions. Sincerely, Maureen Strenk, President of M.O.R.E.
